Memento Vivere

This series made me rediscover my love for photography. For a while I was in an art block and struggled to find ideas and looks to explore. However, starting to shoot in black and white film brought me out of that block and helped me relearn what work I enjoy making. At the time I was (and still am) heavily inspired by Daido Moriyama and Trent Parke. I greatly appreciate the gritty look of film and heavy contrasts between lights and darks. I also enjoy the mistakes that can be made along the way in the shooting and developing process such as splotches and light leaks and feel as though it adds something more to the photographs. This series as a whole holds an immense amount of nostalgia and passion for me and I will continue to strive making work like this. This work was also on display in the Visual Grievances show at the UNT CoLab in 2024.
