ABOUT LILY HIGHT

BIOGRAPHY

Lily Hight is a photographer born in Fort Carson, Colorado, currently based in the DFW, Texas. She started photography early in childhood after her parents would give her disposable cameras to keep her entertained. She later took photojournalism and photography classes at her high school, participating in competitions during her AP photo classes. She has since created a wide range of work from portraiture and commercial to film and street photography. Lily is a University of North Texas alumni, having earned her Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Photography in May of 2024.

Artist Statement

As a photographer with a wide range of experience in a multitude of photographic fields, I am not only able to adapt to different situations and environments, but also make work that exceeds what is wanted while creating something unique. Something I am especially passionate about is being able to preserve a moment and the feelings attached. This passion of mine allowed me to develop a creative eye that is unique and special to me. It keeps me going and I strive to share how I see the world and others, because to me, it is too special not to.

Education/Experience

Bachelor's in Photography
University of North Texas

During my time at UNT, I have gained high level skills in editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Adobe Premier Pro and more. I studied proper file format, management, and the professional skills of a photographer. I have extensive knowledge of the camera and can work in a wide range of environments from night to the studio. I gained experience with different equipment such as studio and darkroom equipment.

2022

In Light of Poetry, College of Visual Arts and Design, UNT

Participated in a hallway gallery, showcasing the work students had made in the Lighting Techniques course at the College of visual Art and Design.

2023

ASTU 4500 Hallway Show, College of Visual Arts and Design, UNT

Had a photograph on display in a hallways show for the senior photography majors at the College of visual Art and Design.

Had a photograph on display inside Jupiter House Coffee along with 8 other artists.

Old Bear on The Square 1 Year Anniversary Event, Denton, TX

Photographed Old Bear Vintage's 1 Year Opening Anniversary for their Denton Square location. Photographed the store layout, vendors, customers and store interactions, details and more.
